Accessibility Statement

How Drake Contracting builds drakecontracting.com to work for keyboard and screen-reader users, and how to reach us if you hit a barrier.

Our Commitment

Drake Contracting, Inc. is committed to making drakecontracting.com usable by as many people as possible, including people with disabilities. We want every visitor to be able to learn about our work, contact us, and request a consultation regardless of how they access the web.

How We Build for Accessibility

This site is built with accessibility considered from the start of every page. The work below has been performed by hand. No automated accessibility overlay or third-party widget is installed on this site; accessibility is part of the build, not a bolt-on layer.

  • Semantic HTML structure (header, nav, main, footer, section, article) so screen readers and other assistive technology can navigate the page outline.
  • Skip-to-main-content link at the top of every page for keyboard users.
  • Alt text on project images and descriptive captions where the alt alone would not convey context.
  • Keyboard navigation throughout, including the main navigation, mobile menu, FAQ accordions, project lightbox, and form fields. Focus indicators are visible.
  • ARIA attributes on interactive components, including the FAQ accordion (aria-expanded, aria-controls, aria-hidden) and the mobile menu button (aria-controls, aria-expanded).
  • Color contrast that meets the WCAG 2.1 AA threshold for body text and interactive components.
  • Mobile-first responsive design that adapts to small viewports without horizontal scrolling.
  • Respect for the prefers-reduced-motion setting: animated transitions, scroll-triggered reveals, and hero parallax motion are disabled when your operating system or browser is configured to reduce motion.
  • Forms with explicit label elements and accessible field descriptions. Form submission gives clear next-step feedback rather than silently failing.

Standards We Reference

This site is built with reference to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1, level AA, published by the W3C. Referencing WCAG 2.1 AA as a build target does not constitute a certification or conformance audit, and we do not represent that the site fully conforms to any particular WCAG level. We continue to improve accessibility on the site as part of normal maintenance.

Known Limitations

We are aware that the following items may present accessibility challenges, and we are working to address them over time:

  • The home page includes a hero video that plays as a low-opacity background under an image overlay. The video has no audio track. If your system requests reduced motion, the video is suppressed and a static image is shown instead.
  • Embedded third-party content, including the Google Maps iframe on the contact page, is governed by the third party's accessibility implementation and is outside our direct control.

Feedback and Contact

If you run into an accessibility barrier on this site, we want to hear about it so we can fix it. Please contact us by any of the following:

We aim to respond to accessibility feedback within five business days. If you were trying to reach information that was blocked by a barrier, we will work with you to provide that information by another means while we fix the underlying issue.

Conformance and Certification

This statement describes our accessibility approach and does not constitute a guarantee, warranty, or certification of conformance to any specific accessibility standard. Drake Contracting, Inc. and Throttle Up Media do not certify ADA Title III conformance or WCAG conformance. If your needs require a formal accessibility audit or remediation report, please contact us at the addresses above and we will work with you to find a path forward.
